Unit induk Pembangkitan dan Penyaluran (UIKL) Sulawesi merupakan salah satu Unit PLN yang berfokus kepada penyediaan dan penyaluran Tenaga Listrik di Sulawesi. Yang saat ini terbagi dalam 3 sistem besar kelistrikan Sulawesi, yaitu : Sistem Kelistrikan Sulawesi Selatan, Sistem Kelistrikan Sulawesi Utara, Sistem Kelistrikan Kendari.
Serta beberapa sistem kelistrikan Isolated atau sistem kelistrikan yang terpisah dari sistem utama, yang umumnya berada di Pulau.
UIKL Sulawesi terbentuk pada tanggal 01 April 2018 yang saat ini membawahi 11 Unit Pelaksana yang tersebar di Seluruh Pulau Sulawesi
Sulawesi memiliki banyak pembangkit listrik tenaga energi baru dan terbarukan (PLT EBT). Antara lain Pembangkit listrik tenaga bayu (PLTB) pertama di Kabupaten Sidrap. Dengan memiliki 30 wind turbine generator (WTG) atau kincir angin, PLTB Sidrap menghasilkan listrik sebesar 75 Megawatt (MW) dan mengalirkan listrik kepada 70 ribu pelanggan di wilayah Sulsel. Sulsel juga memiliki setidaknya 21 pembangkit listrik tenaga surya (PLTS) di empat kabupaten, yakni Sinjai, Luwu Timur, Pangkep, dan Kepulauan Selayar. Kapasitas ke-21 PLTS itu ialah 4,3 Mw dan melayani 11 ribu kepala keluarga
Disisi lain, seperti diketahui PLTS dan PLTB bersifat intermittent, karenanya diskusi kali ini membahas kiat PLN dalam mengoperasikan PLTS/PLTEBT yang berkarakter intermittent
